YMX supplies custom wire mesh filter discs and screen packs for polymer processing, liquid filtration, gas filtration and industrial screening systems. Products are available as single-layer discs, multilayer screen packs, spot-welded packs, framed discs and micron-rated filter elements.

Diameter, shape, mesh specification, filtration accuracy, layer sequence and edge construction can be manufactured according to drawings, samples or equipment dimensions.

Available Filter Disc Structures

Single-Layer Filter Discs

Single-layer filter discs are suitable for basic screening and particle retention. They can be manufactured from plain weave, twill weave or Dutch weave wire mesh.

Available options include:

  • Round, square, oval and custom shapes

  • Plain-cut or reinforced edges

  • Custom outside and inside diameters

  • Different mesh counts and wire diameters

  • Stainless steel material options

  • Disposable or reusable designs

Multilayer Screen Packs

Multilayer screen packs combine different mesh layers to achieve the required filtration accuracy and mechanical strength.

A typical structure may include:

  • Fine filtration mesh

  • Coarse supporting mesh

  • Protective outer mesh

  • Flow-distribution layer

The number and order of layers can be customized according to the flow direction, pressure differential and required filtration performance.

Extruder Screen Packs

Extruder screen packs are used in plastic and polymer processing equipment to remove contaminants from molten material before extrusion.

Available designs include:

  • Single extrusion screens

  • Two-layer screen packs

  • Multilayer screen packs

  • Spot-welded screen assemblies

  • Fine mesh with coarse support layers

  • Custom screens made to breaker plate dimensions

For quotation, please provide the outside diameter, mesh sequence, number of layers, processed material and required quantity.

Framed Filter Discs

Framed filter discs use a metal rim to secure the wire mesh and protect the outer edge. The frame helps maintain dimensional stability during installation, removal and cleaning.

Framed designs are suitable when:

  • Fine mesh requires edge protection

  • The disc must maintain a precise diameter

  • Repeated installation is required

  • The filter needs to be cleaned and reused

  • Loose mesh edges may affect sealing

Micron-Rated Filter Discs

Micron-rated filter discs are manufactured according to the required particle retention level.

The final specification should consider:

  • Required micron rating

  • Mesh weave

  • Wire diameter

  • Open area

  • Flow rate

  • Fluid viscosity

  • Pressure differential

  • Supporting structure

A micron rating alone does not define the complete filter. Mesh construction and support requirements must also be confirmed.

Screen Pack Layer Design

Each layer in a multilayer screen pack has a specific function.

Filtration Layer

Captures particles according to the required mesh size or micron rating.

Support Layer

Supports the fine filtration mesh and reduces deformation under pressure.

Protective Layer

Protects the filtration layer during installation, handling and cleaning.

Flow-Distribution Layer

Helps distribute the filtered material across the available surface area.

The layer sequence should follow the operating flow direction. Incorrect layer arrangement may increase pressure loss or damage the fine mesh.

Filtration Accuracy and Pressure Drop

Finer mesh provides improved particle retention but also increases flow resistance. The correct filter disc should balance filtration accuracy with acceptable pressure drop.

Important selection factors include:

  • Mesh opening

  • Wire diameter

  • Weave type

  • Number of layers

  • Effective filtration area

  • Fluid or polymer viscosity

  • Flow rate

  • Contamination level

  • Maximum allowable pressure differential

Applications involving fine filtration or higher pressure may require additional supporting layers.

For multilayer packs, the mesh sequence should be checked before packaging.

MOQ, Samples and Lead Time

Samples and small-batch orders can be evaluated for custom filter disc projects. MOQ depends on the material, dimensions, mesh specification, number of layers, frame structure and processing requirements.

Simple single-layer discs generally require less preparation than multilayer, framed or specially shaped products. New designs may require drawing approval and sample verification before batch production.

Sample and production lead times are confirmed after the specifications, processing requirements and order quantity have been reviewed.
