Media retention nozzles are specialized internal components of filter vessels and media beds. They serve to retain granular filter media—such as sand, activated carbon, ion‑exchange resin—while allowing the filtrate (liquid or gas) to pass through. The result: stable media layers, uniform flow distribution, and improved filtration performance.

Key Features & Benefits

Precisely‑engineered slot openings (e.g., ~0.15 mm to 0.50 mm, or per specification) that match media particle size and prevent media loss.

Durable construction using stainless‑steel (e.g., 316L) or corrosion/abrasion‑resistant alloys, ensuring durability in harsh environments.

High open area and efficient flow behaviour, reduced head‑loss across the nozzle assembly.

Configurable connection types (threaded, flanged, bolt‑on) and modular design for ease of installation and maintenance.

Supports backwash or forward flush operations, helping maintain clean media beds and long service intervals.

Media retention nozzles Applications

Water treatment: vessels containing sand or gravel media, activated carbon beds, where the nozzle holds the media and distributes flow uniformly.

Chemical and ion exchange systems: resin retention in towers and vessels, with uniform flow and minimal channeling.

Process vessels in industries such as oil & gas, mining, power generation—where media need to be held reliably under varying flows and conditions.

Retrofitting old filtration tanks: replacement nozzle assemblies to upgrade performance and reduce media migration or fouling.

Specifications & Customization

Slot width: typically 0.15 mm–0.50 mm (custom slot sizes available).

Materials: Stainless Steel (304 / 316 / 316L) standard; duplex, nickel alloys as required for corrosive or high‑temp service.

Connection/end type: Threaded nipple, flange, bolt‑on plate, or vessel‑specific mounting.

Length and diameter: Tailored to vessel internals, number of nozzles, flow distribution design.

Optional features: welded manifolds, multipoint assemblies, combined distribution/collection systems.
